Roosevelt of New York addressing spectators at the dedication of the Colonial National Monument at Yorktown during Virginia's Sesquicentennial Celebration of Cornwallis surrender. By the fall of 1931 Roosevelt was already being considered a likely candidate for the Democratic nominee for President in the 1932 election.
