Road to Rio

Hollywood: Paramount Pictures, 1946. Draft script for the 1947 film. Copy belonging to music associate Troy Sanders, with his name in holograph ink and pencil to several pages, and holograph pencil and ink annotations regarding musical numbers in the film throughout.

The fifth in Bing Crosby and Bob Hope's popular "Road to..." comedy adventure series, and the first of the series to be jointly produced by both. Two out-of work musicians stow away on a Brazil-bound ocean liner. While on board, they encounter a woman being hypnotized by her gold-digging aunt into an arranged marriage, and the two men quickly concoct a harebrained plan to save her by passing her off as a nightclub singer in Rio.

Set in New Orleans, Louisiana and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

White titled self wrappers, dated November 6, 1946, with credits for screenwriters Edmund Beloin and Jack Rose. Title page integral with the front wrapper, as issued. 142 leaves, mimeographed, with blue, pink, and green revision pages throughout, dated variously between 11-14-46 and 1-21-47. Pages Near Fine with some mild water staining, wrapper Near Fine with some wear, bound with two gold brads.
