Four leaves of the script have annotations in holograph pencil, one noting missing page number and added scene, the others noting deleted scenes.
Based on C.J. Koch's 1978 novel. Guy Hamilton (Mel Gibson,) a reporter caught in the turmoil of the Indonesian overthrow of President Sukarno and the events leading up to a Communist coup attempt in 1965, is assisted by photographer Billy Kwan (Linda Hunt) and a young, beautiful assistant at the British Embassy, Jill Bryant (Sigourney Weaver).
Linda Hunt won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival.
Shot on location in Australia and Philippines.
