A romantic epic set in colonial Africa. A wealthy Danish woman marries a Swedish nobleman and moves to Nairobi to live with him, although their marriage is loveless, largely born of convenience. Abandoned by her husband, the woman throws herself into establishing a coffee farm on their property, but nonetheless finds herself falling for a charming but aloof big game hunter. Nominated for eleven Academy Awards and winning seven, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Set in Nairobi, shot on location in England and Kenya.
