A ex-convict looking to pay his debts teams up with a hardened trucker determined to keep his small trucking operation, in spite of violent intimidation tactics by a rival company. The two men make their way along a Tennessee trucking route headed for Atlanta, culminating in a shootout at the Blue Ridge Mountain pass. Screenwriters Michael Scheff and David Spector were best known for the disaster thriller "Airport '77" (1977).

Set in Gatlinburg, Lexington, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the apparently fictional town of Raeburn, Tennessee.
