Fort Laramie, an undermanned garrison, is trying to keep peace with the Sioux when the Civil War breaks out, dividing loyalties down the middle. Chief Red Cloud, head of the Sioux Nation sees an opportunity to split and wipe out the garrison.

Harry Dean Stanton's film debut (though he is not shown in any of the photos).

Set in Wyoming, shot on location in Utah.
