One of two musical plays written by actor Austin Pendleton. "Booth is Back in Town!" was first performed, with music by Jim Massengale, by the Yale University Dramatic Association at the Yale University Theatre in 1961, which also released a cast album.

In 1963, with music by Arthur Rubinstein, it was performed under the title "Mr. Booth" at the Williamstown Theatre in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

A musical of the life Junius Brutus Booth, a notorious mid-19th century actor and his sons, actors Edwin Booth and John Wilkes Booth, assassin of US President Abraham Lincoln.
