The only feature film written by Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss), who wrote the story, co-wrote the screenplay and the lyrics to songs.

A Technicolor musical fantasy about a boy (Tommy Rettig) who dreams he is a world ruled by a diabolical piano teacher, Dr. Terwilliker (Hans Conried), forever enslaving children and forcing them to play a piano so immense, it takes 500 children to play it.

Nominated for one Academy Award.
