Copy belonging to costume designer Molly Maginnis, warmly INSCRIBED on the title pages by members of the cast and crew, including director Stephen Frears and actors George Clooney, Don Cheadle, Richard Dreyfuss, Walter Cronkite, Sam Elliott, and Harvey Keitel. Housed in a three-ring binder with other production documents, including a shooting schedule, contact list, and maps of filming locations.

Not to be confused with the 1964 film directed by Sidney Lumet.

Based on the 1962 Cold War novel "Fail-Safe," wherein a US bomber is mistakenly ordered to drop a nuclear warhead on Moscow, setting off a destructive chain of events leading to total annihilation of both countries. The first feature-length television film broadcast live on CBS in 40 years.

Set in Omaha, Washington DC, and Moscow.

Title page present, dated March 6, 2000, noted as PRODUCTION DRAFT, with credits for screenwriter Walter Bernstein and novelists Harvey Wheeler and Eugene Burdick. 116 leaves, with last page of text numbered 107.
