The Homestretch [The Home Stretch]

Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox, 1946. Revised Final Draft script archive for the 1947 film, here under the working title "The Home Stretch". Copy belonging to an uncredited cast or crew member, with their name in holograph pencil annotation to the front wrapper. Accompanying the script are several production documents, including a 25-page mimeographed shooting script, several typed sets of daily shooting notes, and interdepartmental notes exchanged between director H. Bruce Humberstone and producer Darryl F. Zanuck.

Rivalry and romance escalates between two thoroughbred horse breeders. Screenwriter Wanda Tuchock was a noted screenwriter who started in the silent era and went on to become one of the first women to be credited as a director on a Hollywood film. She was a charter member of the Screen Writers Guild, and was one of only a handful of women employed as a screenwriter at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1930s.

Set in Maryland, Kentucky, and Argentina, and shot on location at various international racetracks, including Churchill Downs, Kentucky; Saratoga Springs, New York; and Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire, UK.
