The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Tobe Hooper (director, screenwriter)
Kim Henkel (screenwriter)
Marilyn Burns, Allen Danziger, Paul A. Partain, William Vail, Gunnar Hansen (starring)

Austin, Texas: Vortex, 1975. Vintage borderless reference photograph from the 1974 film, showing director Tobe Hooper coaching actress Marilyn Burns in between shots, with cinematographer Daniel Pearl adjusting the camera in the background. With a printed mimeo snipe affixed to the verso.

Loosely based on the crimes of serial murderer and body snatcher Ed Gein. Shot on a shoestring budget, with the cast mostly composed of unknown Texan actors, Tobe Hooper's second feature film courted controversy upon release for its grisly violence and critical view of US politics, and is now rightfully considered a slasher cult classic.

Set and shot on location in Round Rock, Watterson, Austin, and San Marcos, Texas.

10 x 8 inches. Near Fine.

Thrower, Nightmare USA.
