Based on the 1966 novel. A brooding New York detective investigates the murder of a gay man—a crime that none of his fellow officers will take seriously due to the victim's sexuality. Sinatra’s fourth collaboration with director Gordon Douglas, a box office success which would become one of the first mainstream Hollywood films to explicitly depict and discuss the lives of gay men.
