The Killing of Sister George
N.p. N.p., Circa 1968. Two vintage borderless reference photographs from the 1968 film, one showing actors Beryl Reid and Susannah York, the other showing director Robert Aldrich.
A tyrannical, aging actress is a long-standing staple on a soap opera, but her increasingly unstable behavior causes the producers to kill off her character. As she spirals out of control, she lashes out at her lover, a young and beautiful actress. Director Aldrich spent $75,000 fighting the film's mature rating (earned as a result of its explicit content, most notably a sex scene between two women) which limited the film's screening and advertisement platforms, but was unsuccessful.
Shot on location in London.
Approximately 7.5 x 9.5 inches. Near Fine.
