Laid in with the script is a manuscript letter from Johnson to Offutt, discussing a forthcoming performance of the play at Reed College in 2004.

A foul-mouthed, inane dark comedy, following a violent, backwoods Idahoan engaged in the process of burying the corpse of his neighbor he has just clubbed to death. First performed by the Campo Santo company at the Intersection for the Arts theatre in San Francisco on January 26, 2004.
Johnson received his BA from the University of Iowa in 1971, and in 1974 earned an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he later returned to teach. He is best known for his short story collection "Jesus' Son" (1992), and for his novel "Tree of Smoke" (2007), which won the National Book Award for Fiction. He was also the writer of several plays, including "Hellhound on My Trail" (2000), "Shoppers" (2002), and "Soul of a Whore and Purvis" (2012), and wrote screenplays for two films, "The Prom" (1990) and "Hit Me" (1996), both directed by Steven Shainberg.
