Based on the 1933 novel by Robert Hitchens. Anthony Keane (Peck) is a married British lawyer who falls in love with the woman he is defending, a woman who happens to be accused of poisoning. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Ethel Barrymore.

Set in and shot on location in Cumbria, England.
