Los Angeles: Tandem Productions, Circa 1979. Draft script for 90 minute retrospective episode of the acclaimed television series, which aired, during the shows ninth and final season, on CBS on March 4, 1979. Script pages in three colors, white for Norman Lear's narration, blue for promotional and commercial breaks, and yellow for previous episode clips (with full script retained from the clip segments). Script is preceded by "Rehearsal Schedule" and "Schedule" on three green pages, and a four page "Short Rundown" of the episode, each segment broken into themes, narration, and playback clips, on white pages.
Norman Lear hosts the 200th episode commemoration, featuring a variety of clips, grouped thematically, from throughout the show's long-running history (22 in all), and discusses the clips, and the show's challenges in bringing real-life subject matters to a prime time sitcom, before finally introducing the cast members, joining him on stage. Winner of 22 Primetime Emmy Awards, it was nominated 55 times, and is one of the few shows in which all the leads won Emmys. The show is credited with having the most spin-offs for a prime time television series, directly spawning "Maude," "The Jeffersons," "Archie Bunker's Place," "Gloria," and "704 Hauser."
Recorded in front of a live audience at Mark Taper Forum of the Los Angeles Music Center. Nominated for a Primetime Emmy award.
