Desperate for cash after blowing his inheritance, a playboy marries an introverted and nerdy but very wealthy woman, hoping to murder her and use the insurance payout to settle his debts. Elaine May's directorial debut, a critical success which was largely ignored at the box office, but which is rightfully today considered a cult classic.
