Based on the 1956 play by screenwriters Hugh Williams and Margaret Vyner. An aristocratic but poor husband and wife are forced to permit tours of their family estate in order to make ends meet. One of the visitors to the house is an obnoxious American oil tycoon, who soon turns his amorous attentions to the lady of the house.
Shot on location in Wiltshire and Middlesex, England.
