Based on the 1939 novel by Christopher Morley, about a scrappy young woman who falls in love with the handsome scion of an old Philadelphia family, but faces the disapproval of his parents, leading to the dissolution of their relationship. A breakthrough role for Ginger Rogers, who received an Academy Award for her performance.
