Original Mission of Burma Final Appearances poster signed by all four members of the band, 1983

Boston: Ace of Hearts, 1983. Vintage Mission of Burma tour poster for their final five performances before disbanding in 1983, INSCRIBED to an undisclosed "Dan," on the lower half by all four members of the band, "Dan, well here goes, / Roger / Miller," with Miller written in reverse, "To Dan, / such devotion is / an embarrassment / thanks, Clint [Conley]," "Never to have an original / thot, I echo his words / Pete [Prescot]," and "For Dan – Martin [Swope]."

One of the most seminal American post punk bands of the 1980s, Mission of Burma's brief four year run, 1979-1983, has proved increasingly influential since, despite having only released two singles, one ep, and one lp, "Vs." The band disbanded in 1983 after guitarist Roger Miller developed tinnitus due to the band's thunderous stage volume. In 2002 the band reunited, with Bob Weston replacing Swope as tape manipulator/sound engineer, for what was intended as two reunion gigs, which immediately sold out and expanded to six gigs, at which point the band decided to re-form and record new material. Four new studio albums, as well as a greatest hits collection, were released between 2004 and 2012, and in June 2019 it was announced on Facebook that band had no plans to record any further material.
