A psychiatrist is afflicted by an inexplicable depression while on vacation. Desperate to escape her torment, she has an affair with a married doctor, which of course leads to more problems but also a greater understanding of her sadness. As with "Scenes from a Marriage," the film originally aired in Sweden as a television miniseries (181 minutes), then was pared down to various lengths as a film version in the US (114 minutes), Argentina (120 minutes), and the UK (136 minutes).
