Adapted for film and television ten times, first in 1917, directed by Alan Crosland and starring Raymond McKee, and most recently in 2005 as a television movie directed by Brendan Maher and starring James Anthony Pierson.

Young heir David Balfour's greedy uncle Ebenezer conspires to have the boy kidnapped at sea and sold into slavery to keep him from his birthright.
