Original photograph of Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller at their wedding reception, 1956

N.p. Marilyn Monroe Productions, 1956. Vintage photograph of Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller shortly after cutting the cake at their wedding reception in 1956. Stamp of photographer Milton H. Greene on the verso, along with the stamps of Monroe's production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions.

Miller and Monroe were married at the Westchester County Courthouse, in White Plains, New York, on June 29, 1956. A small Jewish ceremony was held two days later at the home of Miller's Hollywood agent in Waccabuc, attended by 25 guests. The couple was married for five years before separating in 1961, after production wrapped for "The Misfits."

Milton H. Greene was a celebrity and fashion photographer best known for his now-iconic images of Marilyn Monroe. His early shoot with Monroe for Look magazine in 1953 changed the course of his career, and together they formed Marilyn Monroe Productions, an effort to wrest control of Monroe's career from avaricious Hollywood producers.
