On Dress Parade [The Dead End Kids in Military School]

Burbank, CA: Warner Brothers, 1939. Revised Final draft script for the 1939 film, here under the working title "The Dead End Kids in Military School." Copy belonging to director William Clemens, with annotations in holograph pencil on all pages but one, and many with annotations on the versos. Included is a standard brown delivery envelope, labeled, that presumably contained the script when it was issued.

The final feature film in the "Dead End Kids" film series, and the first film in the series to not headline other well-known actors. Preceded by "The Angels Wash Their Faces," directed by Ray Enright, and starring Ann Sheridan and Ronald Reagan. Slip (Leo Gorcey), a juvenile delinquent, finds himself trying to adjust to life at a military school.

Shot on location at Warner Ranch in Calabasas, California.

Orange titled wrappers, noted as REV. FINAL on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 14, dated June 8, 1939. Title page present, with credits for screenwriter Tom Reed. 112 leaves, with last page of text numbered 104. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only, with blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between 6/8/39 and 6/23/39. Pages Very Good plus, with some pages chipped at the top right corner, and with modest silverfish damage to title page. Wrapper Good to Very Good, chipped at the edges, bound with three gold brads.
