Based on the medieval narrative poem by Geoffrey Chaucer, and the second film in Pier Paolo Pasolini's Trilogy of Life series, following "The Decameron" (1971) and followed by "A Thousand and One Nights" (1974). Johnson appeared in the segment "The Steward's Tale."

Set and shot on location throughout England.
