Tall, handsome, and dapper, La Rocque was typically cast as the cavalier hero in the silent and early sound era. Between 1914 and 1941 La Rocque starred in over 80 films, including Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 epic "The Ten Commandments," Ernst Lubitsch's 1924 drama "Forbidden Paradise," and DeMille's 1926 proto-screwball comedy "The Cruise of the Jasper B."
