Well-regarded film about an aging rodeo champion (a "honker") whose arrogance hurts everyone around him, including his family. Notable for its accurate depiction of rodeo life, portrayed in striking detail. Director Steve Inhat's directorial debut.

Shot on location in New Mexico.

Blue titled wrappers. Title page present, dated April 19, 1971, noted as Revised, with credits for screenwriters Steve Ihnat and Jules V. Levy. 134 leaves, with last page of text numbered 129. Mimeograph on blue stock, with first generation photocopy revision pages on yellow, goldenrod, and green stock throughout, dated variously between 5/4/71 and 5/17/71. Pages Fine, wrapper Near Fine bound with two gold brads. In a custom green quarter-leather clamshell box.
