Laid in with the script is a double weight reference photograph of director Henry King and actor Gregory Peck on the set of the film.

A reformed gunfighter travels to reunite with his estranged wife and son, but is confronted by an aspired gunfighter hoping to find fame by killing him. A turning point in cinema as one of the first Westerns targeted primarily to adults, and the second collaboration between Peck and King.

Red titled wrappers, noted as REVISED FINAL on the front wrapper, rubber-stamped copy No. 113 and production No. 308, dated August 31, 1949. Distribution page present, with receipt intact. Title page present, dated August 31, 1949, noted as Revised Final, with credits for screenwriters Bowers and Sellers. 135 leaves, with last page numbered 132.
