Based on Paul Bowles' 1952 novel, about an American living in Tangiers whose attempts to explore the city's dangerous underbelly lead to his own downfall. Screenwriter Gary Conklin directed and produced a documentary about Bowles, "Paul Bowles in Morocco" (1970).

Set in Tangiers, Morocco.
