A Mexican outlaw and a former Irish Republican revolutionary band together in Mexico in the early twentieth century, inadvertently becoming heroes of the Mexican Revolution. The final Western directed by Sergio Leone, and the second film in his loose "Once Upon a Time" trilogy, following "Once Upon a Time in the West" (1968) and preceding "Once Upon a Time in America" (1984).

Shot on location in Ireland and Spain.
