Original Sun Ra and His Intergalactic Infinity Arkestra album art proof sheet for "The Night of the Purple Moon," 1970

Chicago: El Saturn Records, 1970. Original album art proof sheet for the Sun Ra and His Intergalactic Infinity Arkestra's 1970 album "The Night of the Purple Moon," 1970.

Released the same year, and with the same lineup (Sun Ra, Danny Davis, Marshall Allen, and John Gilmore), as its more free-jazz companion album, "My Brother the Wind" by Sun Ra and his Infinity Arkestra, "Night of the Purple Moon" is nearly a pop release for Ra, and showcases his early work with the nascent Moog synthesizer, with Ra, here playing both the mini-Moog and Rock-Si-Chord (famously showcased on Terry Riley's 1968 release "A Rainbow in Curved Air"). Featuring a rare re-make by Ra, here of the track "Love in Outer Space," recorded in 1962, and originally released in 1965 on "Secrets of the Sun."

22.5 x 17.5 inches. Near Fine.
