Based on the 1971 novel by Joe David Brown. A young, orphaned girl gets involved with a con man, and the two begin hustling for money. Winner of an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress (Tatum O'Neal) and nominated for three others, including Best Screenplay.

Set in Kansas and Missouri, shot on location in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and California.
