Based on the 1968 novel by Richard Hooker, and, in turn, the basis of the acclaimed television show which ran for 11 seasons on CBS (from 1972 to 1983). A film that kick-started a great decade of cinema, and one that still defines it.

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Screenplay, nominated for four more, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress. Winner of the Palm d'Or.
