Original The Rocky Horror Show poster for the original Broadway production at the Belasco Theatre, 1975
New York: Michael White Productions, 1975. Vintage Rocky Horror Show poster for the original Broadway production at the Belasco Theatre, which opened March 10, 1975 for 45 performances before closing on April 6, 1975.
The poster for the original Broadway musical which spawned the iconic 1975 cult film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," directed by Jim Sharman, and starring Tim Curry (who starred in the 1975 Broadway production) and Susan Sarandon. A campy tribute to science fiction and B horror movies of the 1930s-1960s, the play premiered in 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre before moving to several other locations in London, before closing in 1980 after a run of nearly 3000 performances. The play debuted in the US in Los Angeles in 1974 for a successful nine-month run, but the Broadway production, advertised in the poster found here, lasted for only 45 showings despite earning a Tony nomination and three Drama Desk nominations.
On a dark and stormy night, an uptight young couple finds that their car has broken down in the middle of nowhere, forcing them to seek shelter at the weird and wonderful home of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a mad and perverse scientist.
14 x 22 inches. Very Good plus, with light splashing to the lower right and mid left edge, and creasing to the top edge and the bottom right corner.
