Based on C.J. Koch's 1978 novel. A reporter, his assistant, and a photographer are caught in the turmoil of the overthrow of Indonesian President Sukarno and the events leading up to a communist coup attempt in 1965. Linda Hunt won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Nominated for the Palme d'Or.

Shot on location in Australia and Philippines.
