Based on the 1886 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. After a young boy's father dies, he and his American mother go to England where his paternal grandfather was an Earl. Though the boy is the only heir to the title, his mother is sent home, until another young boy claims to be the true heir. The first film produced by Selznick International Pictures.

Set in 1880s Brooklyn, New York and England.
