Basis for several film adaptations, most notably the 1940 British film "Crimes at the Dark House" (1940) and the US film "The Woman in White."

Very Good plus in a Very Good plus example of the scarce dust jacket. Boards slightly bowed, with a bump at the bottom left corner of the front board and light discoloration on the endpapers. Jacket lightly rubbed, with some fading on the spine panel, and a small tidemark on the top left corner of the rear panel.
