New York: Rodgers and Hammerstein, Circa 1947. Vintage script for the 1947 Broadway play. Copy belonging to an unidentified cast member, with their annotations in manuscript pencil and ink throughout, noting stage directions and amending dialogue for several male characters. Many annotations partially (and unsuccessfully) erased, possibly in service of the script being used by several different cast or crew members.

The play opened on October 10, 1947, at the Majestic Theatre, running for 315 performances. Rodgers and Hammerstein's third theatrical venture, following "Oklahoma!" (1943) and "Carousel" (1945).
