Original painting of Adolphe Menjou on board, circa late 1920s

[Lobby Art] Adolphe Menjou

N.p. N.p., Circa late 1920s. Original Art-Nouveau style lobby art illustration of actor Adolphe Menjou painted on pressboard, circa late 1920s. Menjoue's calligraphic name on the lower right is painted on a separate affixed board.

The painting was likely made to promote the 1927 silent comedy "A Gentleman of Paris," directed by Harry d'Abbadie d'Arrast, starring Menjou and Arlette Marchal, as Menjou is wearing a tuxedo with carnation quite similar to the one seen in the film.

12.75 x 18.25 inches, pressboard 1/2 inch thick. Very Good, with three holes along the top edge (presumably for hanging), and a diagonal crack along the top edge, but with the board's structural integrity intact.
