Credited solely to Kirkwood, and with a paper spine label indicating the script dates to December 1976, over five years prior to the film's production. With brief but substantive corrections in manuscript pencil on four pages.

A key Vietnam film and an underrated performance by Richard Pryor serving in both dramatic and comedic capacities. A Vietnam vet returns home from a prisoner of war camp and is greeted as a hero, but is quickly forgotten and soon discovers how tough survival is in his own country.
