Based on the 1938 autobiograhy "Trader Horn: The Ivory Coast in the Earlies" by Alfred Aloysius “Trader” Horn, about an ivory trader in central Africa working to thwart the efforts of Germans mine platinum using slave labor during World War I. Taken from the same source material as the 1931 film of the same name, directed by W.S. Van Dyke and starring Harry Carey and Edwina Booth, although the plots are very different.

Set in Africa, shot on location in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Director Badiyi (1930-2011) also directed episodes of several television shows, including "Sliders," "Moral Kombat: Conquest," "La Femme Nikita," "Baywatch," and the title visualizations for "Get Smart" and "Mary Tyler Moore."

Goldenrod titled wrappers, rubber-stamped copy No. 122, dated January 22, 1973, with credits for producer Lewis J. Rachmil, director Badiyi, and screenwriter Norton. 97 leaves, with last page of text numbered 97. Mechanical duplication. Pages and wrapper Near Fine, bound with two gold brads.
