The third final film in Polanski's "Apartment Trilogy," (following "Repulsion" and "Rosemary's Baby") in which Polanski plays the role of a man who finds out that the previous tenant of his Parisian apartment attempted suicide by jumping out the window. Slowly, the man becomes obsessed with the tenant, taking on more and more of her habits, ultimately including her attempts at self destruction. Nominated for the 1976 Cannes Film Festival Palme d'Or. Set in Paris, and shot there on location.
