A recently paroled ex-con gets out of prison and immediately murders someone, leading to a large-scale media scandal. Screenwriter Christy Cabanne was one of the most prolific directors in the history of early American film, beginning in the Silent era, later working with Universal on a string of low-budget movies throughout the 1930s and 1940s.
