Credited here for screenwriting are novelist Jessamyn West and one of the film's producers Robert Wyler. Wilson was finally given the credit by the Screenwriters Guild in 1996.

Based on the 1945 novel by Jessamyn West. Members of a Quaker family in 1860s Indiana must individually reassess their faith and morals as the Civil War looms closer and closer to their home.

Set in Jennings County, Indiana.
