Joseph Beuys and Udo Lindenberg were both participants in the "Artists for Peace" movement, an antinuclear initiative in the early eighties lead by musicians, actors, and intellectuals in West Germany. Here they are pictured underneath a "Green Caterpillar" sign, the name of a bus tour organized by the recently founded West German Green Party as part of the 1983 electoral campaign.
