Based on the 1975 novel of the same name by Jean-Marie Fitere which tells the true story of Violette Noziere (Isabelle Huppert), a French teenager who in the 1930s worked as a prostitute while living with her parents, who she poisoned, killing her father, after they found out from her doctor that she had syphilis. Isabelle Huppert won the award for Best Actress at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival.
