A sequel to Alain Resnais' 1966 film "The War is Over." It is 1975 and fascist dictator Francisco Franco is dying. Montand plays Jean, an exiled Spanish communist, comfortably living as a screenwriter with his wife Julia (Miou-Miou) in France while still supporting the resistance in Spain. A complicated relationship to his son and a tragedy in Spain test Jean's beliefs and commitment to the cause.
Set in and shot on location in France.
