A Princess of Mars

N.p. N.p., 1987. Draft script for an unproduced film. INSCRIBED by screenwriter Charles Edward Pogue in black ink on the title page: "To John / "I Still Live!" / Best Always, / Charles Edward Pogue."

Based on the 1912 science fantasy novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs. A Confederate soldier is wounded in battle and subsequently used in a military teleportation experiment, transferring him to the planet Barsoom. Finding he can jump far distances due to the change in atmospheric pressure, he attracts the attention of a group of aliens, who eventually accept him as their swashbuckling leader in battling rival alien gangs.

Charles Edward Pogue, best known for his screenwriting for the 1986 remake of "The Fly," was the first screenwriter hired by Disney to adapt Edgar Rice Burrough's classic novel. The film was delayed for decades, however, and Pogue's script was ultimately never used.

Set on another planet in outer space.
