Based on the 1937 novel by Daniel Fuchs, about a small-town racketeer who suffers a mental breakdown when his turf is threatened by a ruthless, sinister gangster. The novel was later adapted into the 1947 film noir "The Gangster," with a screenplay written by Fuchs and Dalton Trumbo.

Set in the fictional boardwalk town of Neptune Beach, Brooklyn.

Tan titled wrappers, with a sticker for Rialto Service Bureau Typing and Mimeographing on the front wrapper. Title page present, with credits for playwright Allen Boretz and novelist Daniel Fuchs. 149 leaves, with last page of text numbered 3-2-33. Mimeograph duplication on onionskin stock, rectos only. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good plus, bound internally with three gold brads.
