Vintage photograph of jazz greats Billie Holiday, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and Gerry Mulligan performing live on "The Sound of Jazz," a 1957 episode of the CBS television program "The Seven Lively Arts." With two manuscript ink annotations to the verso, one identifying the musicians and one noting "Return to CBS Records."

One of the first American network television programs to feature jazz music. The episode highlighted swing, Chicago, and modern jazz musicians, featuring (in addition to Holiday, Young, and Hawkins) Count Basie, Ben Webster, Henry "Red" Allen, Vic Dickenson, Pee Wee Russell, and Thelonious Monk.
